11-Jan-2019: Added information about Nia Reed playing in Poland to the Alumnae page. Reordered table to be in alphabetical order by first name and added links to flovolleyball.tv.

16-Nov-2018: Based on newsletter article by Coach Katie, many updates/confirmations were made on the Alumnae page.

6-Nov-2018: Based on posts from Karen Lee, the team names for Ali Franti and Aiyana Whitney were updated on the Alumnae page.

12-September-2018: The Booster Club is pleased to announce a new fund-raising program to enhance our ability to support the Penn State Women’s Volleyball program. Click on the “40 for 40” tab in the menu bar, above, to learn more and donate.

8-August-2018: Haleigh Washington blogged that Ali Franti will now play professionally in France after her first season in Slovenia and that Abby Detering will play in France after her first season in Austria. Simone Lee’s transfer to Turkey had previously been reported. Haleigh’s blog also reports what the other members of her class are doing. There’s a link to it on the Alumnae page.

30-June-2018: Announcing a very special event on Friday, August 31 to celebrate Russ Rose’s 40th season as women’s volleyball head coach. The celebration weekend will begin with luncheon event at the Penn Stater beginning at 11:00 a.m. Doors will open at 10:30.

Coach will also be honored at the Appalachian State football game on Saturday afternoon. An ice cream social will be held immediately following the Texas A&M volleyball game on Saturday night and everyone is invited! We’ll be serving Russ Digs Roseberrry from the Penn State Creamery.

20-June-2018: The performance problem has been fixed. The schedule of 2018 post-game socials is now available on our Calendar page.

5-June-2018: The Membership join/renew page has been reinstated. A direct Donate page is now available in the menu bar and a Donate button has been added to the shopping cart checkout page to make it easier for people to make donations to support out team. We’re still working on the performance problem.

22-May-2018: The 2018 schedule is now available on our Calendar page.

1-May-2018: Thanks to Karen Lee, we now have a link to Simone Lee’s blog on the Alumnae page — and the corrected spelling of Haleigh’s first name.

21-Feb-2018: Added contact info for our new assistant coaches, Katie Shumacher-Cawley and Dennis Hohenshelt. Per Coach, Haleigh Washington is now in Italy to launch her pro career.

14-Feb-2018: Updated the Alumnae page with info found in a post on the DigNittanyVolleyball forum. Attempting to verify. As always, please let the webmaster know of any additional info you have.

11-Feb-2018: Started adding links to the personal blogs/websites of our alumnae playing in the pros. As always, please let the webmaster know of any additional info you have.

4-Feb-2018: Update from Coach, Jan-30: Not aware of links, but Nic Fawcett is in Brazil, Aiyana Whitney is in China, Haleigh Washington just signed to play in Italy, Megan Courtney was in Poland before she hurt her knee, Deja McClendon is in Poland, and Nia Grant is in Poland. Webmaster note: If anyone knows on which teams the new entries on the Alumnae page are playing, please click on the “Contacts” tab and send an email to the webmaster.

27-Jan-2018: A new page has been added to this site to inform fans where our graduate young women are playing professional volleyball overseas and where their games can be streamed. Just click on “Alumnae” in the menu bar to view the list. This is just a starter list. If anyone knows where other former Lions are playing, or streaming sites for other leagues, please click on the “Contacts” tab and send an email to the webmaster.

20-Jan-2018: Richard Fortmann, our Booster Club Membership Chair, reports that there is an active forum on the DigNittanyVolleyball site. It gets about 30,000 unique visitors during the season, and 700,000 page views, so there is a following. It’s free, with no advertising, and generally has a respectful and informative tone. 19-Jan-2018: Our 2017 Senior CLASS Award winner, Haleigh Washington, has started a blog.

19-Jan-2018: Our 2017 Big Ten Player of the Year, Simone Lee, made her professional debut Wednesday night, getting both a block and a kill. LVF TV streams all of the Italian Women’s Series A matches. Simone’s team is Imoco Volley Conegliano, which also includes former Lion Megan Hodge Easy (currently out injured), and Kim Hill from TeamUSA. LVF TV is a subscription service, much like BTNplus, for 9.99 Euros/mo., or about $12.22.
